What is Gardener's Theory of Multiple Intelligence?
Every child is intelligent in his own way. We cannot limit the type of intelligence that one have. And it is not necessary that a child has only one type of intelligence. He can have more than one type of intelligence.
A theory was given by Dr. Howard Gardener in 1983 in his book Frames of Mind: The theory of Multiple Intelligences that emphasize on the multiple intelligence in an individual. He gave 8 types of intelligence. ( He also suggested addition of 9th type in his book published in 2006 Multiple Intelligences: New Horizons in Theory and Practice)
Being a teacher this theory is very important for us, as it suggests that a teacher must use variety of ways to deliver a lecture in a classroom.

Criticism of theory:
Psychologists and educations criticized that the gardener's definition of intelligence is very broad and the "intelligences" given by him merely represents traits, talents, personalities and abilities.
The theory of gardener is still liked by many teachers and many educators works according to it in planning their lessons.
