Strategies to clear Teacher Eligibility test in first attempt
Most of us got afraid whenever we hear about a term 'test' or 'examination'. The truth is we are afraid not to take the test but there is a fear of failing in it. Here I am providing 5 strategies that helped me clear the Central Teacher Eligibility Test (Dec) 2019 Paper 2 with 123/150 marks and Punjab State Teacher eligibility Test 2018 held in Jan 2020 Paper 1 with 123/150 marks and Paper 2 with 113/150 marks in my very first attempt.
Strategies
Know your eligibility: The very first thing you need to consider is to check your eligibility, whether you are eligible to take the test or not.
E.g: If you are in 1st semester of your teacher training program, you cannot take the test. to make yourself eligible and also to make your test result valid I would suggest to take the exam in 3rd semester.
Know the syllabus: The second thing to keep in mind while preparing for any exam is to know its syllabus. Search for the syllabus from the website of the exam by yourself. do not be dependent on others. You will get clarity of things if you search by your self and try to take help of teachers.
Main subjects from which question asked are
Paper 1
- Child development and pedagogy - 30 questions
- Language 1 - 30 questions
- Language 2 - 30 questions
- Mathematics - 30 questions
- Environmental Studies - 30 questions
Paper 2
- Child development and pedagogy - 30 questions
- Language 1 - 30 question
- Language 2 - 30 questions
- Science and Mathematics - 60 questions( 30 each)
or
- Social Science - 60 questions
Total questions asked are 150, each carrying 1 mark. Minimum marks required to qualify is 90 ( for general) in both papers individually.
Practice previous year questions : Looking at the previous year questions give an insight how and what kind of questions will be asked and what is the difficulty level of the question paper.
Solving previous year papers will boost your confidence to crack the exam in first attempt. Buy any guess paper and solve them. the one's used by me are of Arihant and Swarn. The more questions you solve the more you get an idea of what questions can be asked in exam.
Reading NCERT's : The key to get good marks in exam is to read the NCERT's from class 6th to class 10th.
E.g. If you are from science background you have to choose science and mathematics for exam, then for this you have to read only science and mathematics NCERT's. And same goes with social sciences students.
Take help from You tube : We all are living in 21st century and learning something new is not difficult. The best way to prepare for exam and importantly for those who have less time but more syllabus to cover is to use the you tube. I myself have used you tube channels like Let's learn, Edutap, Gradeup for preparing the exam. You can see the summary of whole syllabus in just 3-4 hours and practice the latest questions provided by them. Preparing from you tube is easy, free and fun activity.
It will help you to establish the link between various topics.
To conclude I would like to say that nothing beats hard work and determination and a strong will to clear the exam in first attempt.
All the best and stay tuned for more informative blogs like this.
